BOSSY! Magazine at The 3rd Annual Zo’s Winter Groove

From January 13-16th Zo’s Winter Groove brought Miami a fun-filled philanthropic weekend, filled with fitness, fun, celebrities and more.
BOSSY! Magazine was on hand to check out some of the amazing activities.
We attended  The Foot Locker 5K Run/Walk and Zo’s Family Health & Wellness Groove held at the North Miami Athletic Stadium. The weather was questionable but it didn’t stop hundreds of people from showing up and showing out to participate. Seasoned and Beginner runners alike crossed the finish line for the 5K Run/Walk presented by Foot Locker. Kids of all ages participated in the FREE Basketball and Football Clinics. Whole families enjoyed the free bounce houses, obstacle courses and face painting including mine! Vendors, food trucks even a free concert made it an event fit for the whole crew.

On Sunday we were back the luxurious J.W. Marriot for Zo’s Comedy Groove. This year’s show was hosted by the super funny Gary Owen with tunes provided by Miami’s own DJ Irie. An audience filled with comedy fans plus Alonzo and Tracy Mourning and all their celebrity friends were treated to the kind of comedy that leaves you out of breath and in tears from laughing. Zacapa Rum and the new Pepsi 1893 kept the drinks flowing all night with premium open bar so thank goodness the appetizers kept coming too!

Although I love to hate “Reggie” London brown’s character on HBO’s Ballers, I had never seen his stand up act. Dude was FUNNY! He was also really sweet and committed to giving back to the community. Totally opposite of his character on the show. We also had the pleasure of meeting and watching Meshelle comedienne, actress, playwright and author. Listen she made a new fan in me, she’s smart, pretty and funny as hell. Her comedy album Funny as a mother is everything and it’s available on Itunes. A special unexpected treat was Jazz Musician Mike Phillips. I thought were in for a little mellow jazz session instead he hit us with that old school hip hop, whatcha know ‘bout that?

Zo’s Winter Groove is in it’s third year of directly improving the lives of youth in Miami and raising awareness of the issues they face. The weekend while fun and exciting also directly serves a usually underserved community. If you missed this year make sure you follow www.zoswintergrove .com to be ready for next year! Oh and #staybossy!
